playing catch-up!

its been a while & I am blaming it on the lack of having my own laptop for a week.  It was a sad but quick death. It just decided not to wake up one morning after its nap while we fixed & had breakfast. I had a mini panic attack & then took a deep breath & remembered to be thankful that I had talked Tim into buying 'himself' one (read-a back up for me) a year ago when mine had been in the shop. So I spent the morning fussing w/the kids, playing around, reading way more books than normal & keeping the childcare much better picked up than normal when the laptop is up & running ;) funny how that works isn't it?  That weekend we took it to the store we bought it from to find out that the warranty had expired & that in order for them to accept it (to then ship it to their shop) I had to pay $50 up front. WHAT?! are you kidding me? forget it. so I walked out w/the computer protectively under my arm. :) Later in the afternoon we took it to a local lady that tore it apart & tested what she could in 20 minutes & couldn't find an answer so she'd take time Monday & get back to me.  When she called she had sad news, it was the motherboard @ her best diagnosis.  I could pick it up from her & send it to Toshiba directly to what she guessed would be a $600 bill in total & offered to part it out on ebay for me.  I agreed & resolved to share tim's computer until the end of March when we would be a bit more financially strong. (& could pay cash rather than put it on a card)

  Fast forward to yesterday: I am miserable in bed-even skipped a crop I was feeling so crappy & Tim came home from work 'after running a few errands' & surprised me w/a brand new laptop! WHOOOOOOOT my HUSBAND ROCKS!!! :)  a little retail therapy (that I didn't have to stress over, during or after) sure lifted my spirits --hehe.  He also noted that I had decided to buy an external hard drive for my 'next computer' & bought one too. Yup he listened AND acted on it! HELLO?!

I am surprised how many programs I had & relied on, on the old computer. I have managed to get almost all of my programs installed in the past 24hrs YAY! I have even transferred the pictures of the past month from the camera! progress freaking rocks!

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPINESS!!!

I woke up w/a headache today. not sure yet if its sinus, neck (from a slip on the ice) or too much water yesterday) but I do know I am really ready to sleep in tomorrow! These crazy weeks are exhausting!

I am happy to have MY computer back!! :) New harddrive & new dvd/cd drive. Love the extended warranty!! :) NOW to get all of my popular programs back on it.

I ccan't remember what program I used to have that changed .doc to .pdf. any suggestions?

ok this thing is way behind on my typing so I will sign off & wish you all a good safe & warm weekend!!! :)

What a Winter!!

our poor school kids will be in school until the middle of June if Winter keeps up this pace! I am not sure but I think we've missed a record number of days already & Its only January! :( Our summer activities start date will be delayed a few weeks. Until then I am pulling out the back up, big guns for Snow/ice days. :) Today: Painting! WHOHOOOOOOO!! maybe a new recipe to bake too!

ACCOUNTABILITY: yesterday I was surprised to get in over 96oz since I started 4 hours later than normal. I also managed 3 fruits & a dairy! WHOHOOOOOOOO

DO: as much as I wanted to be a bum & play online all morning yesterday I made myself DO something while I was on the clock. I managed my normal Wednesday laundry :) so I can proudly say I did DO something. Today is full day w/a full house (I assume) so I will start to DO my tax prep-bleck! -when I can steal quiet moments. I should start by calling & making my appointment, giving myself a deadline usually gets me into gear! ahhh out comes the to-DO list!

Sorry for the boring photo free postings! I haven't put any photo software on Tim's computer yet. Mine is back @ the store from repair shop so thinking when we get it, I'll just do them both @ the same time as I got a new hard drive installed & will need to start it allllllllllllllllllll over agaaaaaaaaaaaaain. *sigh*

Ok off to catch upon what I missed last night while the internet & phone lines were down in our area. :) happy to be back up & running!!!

drama drama drama Friday!!

FIRST:
our local non profit 'no kill' animal shelter elected new officials & then unanimously voted to give all 'residents' 90 days. effective immediately. & w/in a few days (or 24 hrs if I understood correctly) went in & euthanized half of the dogs & 10 cats! this is a place that runs solely on community support yet they never thought to put this out there to the public, even turned down 2 last minute adoption applications for dogs that were on the list. 2 others of the dogs are even highlighted in this week's local paper! gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa they have lost my support until there is a formal VERY PUBLIC apology & some changing of rules/regs/people in charge.

SECOND:
one of my awesome child care moms texted me this morning that her check to me from last week hadn't cleared yet. So upon asking Tim if he had made the deposit while I was @ my crop on Saturday we discovered he hadn't. thru the house & vehicles he went like a whirl wind. then I followed thru the house as I could cleaning up said whirlwind. not found. hate asking for 2nd checks!

THIRD & final thank goodness:
a bit happier: the shop called on my laptop & another hard drive bit the dust along w/the DVD/CD drive. note to self. avoid Toshiba. we don't mix well. luckily all is under extended warranty. :)

I AM BACK!!!

For those of you that didn't read it on facebook, my good laptop took a tumble Wednesday morning & refused to recognize a 'bootable device' & then when I got the old 'back up' laptop out it was 'interrupted upon last shut down & none of the 4 recommended options would allow it to boot up correctly. So I was left Computer & internet-less for the day. Oh my! then Thursday came & Tim was unable to get it to the shop due to the weather. By Friday I had convinced him to gethimself a laptop for us to have a back up. :) he brought home a cute lil hp notebook! SO I was able to catch up w/my websites friday evening.

While I was computer-less the child care got a lil cleaner, the home space too, I did some extra baking -home made granola bars!! yummm!!! recipe to come, carried on some would be email conversations on the phone, & realized, I spend ALOT of time online. got alot of DOing done :) I am keeping in mind that this is Tim's computer so I am careful not to carry it w/me when I change rooms like I do the other. LOL its funny as he calls it ours but I call it his.

So this morning upon sit times I was working on retyping up crop organization forms & reconnecting w/my co-organizers! YAY! Hoping for some registrations to come in this week before next Tuesday's meeting! EXCITING!

The crop on Saturday was successful! fun times, good food, great chats & pages scrapped!! that pile of AZ '04 pics is shrinking :) whohooooooooo Next Crop - Jan. 23rd. more productivity!!

HomeMade Granola Bars:
Combine 1/2 c. brown sugar, 4 c. uncooked oatmeal, & 1/2 tsp. salt (I omitted), mix well & set aside. in a smaller bowl combine 1/2 c. each of honey & peanut butter w/2tsp vanilla. once mixed well stir into dry mix. stir until moistened & spread into a well-oiled (I used pam) 9x13 pan. press firmly for bars that stay intact (I only pressed the edges & teh middle fell apart.. still yummyjust not bars) bake @350 for 20 minutes or until brown. makes 36 squares & one square is a bread alternate for a 3-5 y/o @ snack (on the USDA child & adult care food program)

to be back to normal on the good laptop!! :) amazing how slow that other one was but I limped 'er thru. its gonna be list form today b/c I cannnot focus on full sentences!

• the movie for child care for today got cancelled so we are going to the park instead
• I had to send out 20+ texts & make 15ish phone calls letting people know it was cancelled
• also had to post it on my facebook -just didn't want to have anyone showing up to a no show
• I have 7 confirmed guests for SCRAP PINK over on my facebook event!
• I love facebook!
• I am ready for a boating weekend
• Tim has an eventful semi-stressful day planned-wish him luck-deets when I can
• I think its going to be another hot day
• I picked a tiny red tomato, a carrot & 2 hungarian wax peppers from our garden last night
• After going to the Farmer's Market & getting -2 white onions, a box of yellow tomatoes, a bag of green beans, & a cantalope OH & a groovy new cloth bag! :)
• Have I mentioned my addiction to the Farmer's Market? LOL
• I did chop up the cantalope as soon as I got home tho
• Got a call from Gpa that our beef will be harvested (thanks for the term Shanen!) in September this year to prevent the $ crunch @ Christmas time! YAY!! 600# of beef WHOHOOOOOO!!
• there are others available if anyone is interested in a 1/2 or full just Let me Know.
• I have to recreate all docs I had on this computer
• I keep finding things I need to recreate or reload on here-fun times

ok.. need to get busy.. I could make lists all day long.

IT HAD 3 BAD PARTS!!! YIKES!!!!!

now to start it all over b/c its brand new on the inside!!! :) whohooooooooooooooo

the good laptop is heading to the shop via UPS today *sigh* I am going to miss it! so I am operating on the old S.L.O.W. ONE.... it has a hard time keeping up w/my typing & I am not secretary!! so the posts may be few & far between for the next month or 3 till I get it back. I just discovered (I think) if I do my entries early morning then its quicker... so I will try!

I had put off sending the good one in for way too long thinking it was leaving the country but the shipping lable was just for KY so it might not take the full 8-12 weeks they prepped me for. Its been doing random shut downs for nearly the duration of its time in my ownership & I have just dealt w/it since I've been on the phone w/several tech supports doing different things until the final was 'will u just send it in please' LOL

so Tim dropped it Monday evening & its not lighting up anymore so its definatly in the shop. We are hoping its cheap to fix b/c there won't be a new replacement in our budget until the furniture is paid off in December.

Ok enough whining LOL.. yesterday was too rainy for a field trip so we painted! I have photos but they are still on the camera :) OH & I just realized I have photos of Monday night's family get together to post too... I will try to do some photos in apost tomorrow!
