a doggie door

Once I found out there was a way to get a doggie door for our sliding glass door, I was on a mission to then find one we could afford.  When we found out we were getting tax return back this year, it got bumped to the top of the list & Tim started researching also.  The places I found that were local-ish, made in the USA, & boasted a good bug guard online, had all gone out of business or no longer carried what we needed-go figure.  So we went with the best site Tim found, their mid-grade door.  When it arrived it felt like Christmas to me!  I think the fed-ex man thought I had lost my mind as I was truely jumping up & down clapping my hands after I read the box LOL  this ~~~~~~~> is the pic I sent to Tim & other friends via text as soonas I got it up the stairs :)

That night I had to work at Pizza Hut & fully expected Tim to wait until the following evening when I'd be home to help.  But when I got home after 10 that night, this <~~~~~~~~ is what I found in the dining room.  it is so rad! I have no idea how we lived with out it! No more worrying about not getting him to the door in time, or needing to be home in time from an outing.  Sam even loves it!

view from the outside<~~~~~~~~~~~~  Honey the cat isn't quite determined enough to put enough pressure to try it but he will dart the opposite way Sam is going while Sam has it open, pretty clever, I'd say.  It has taken a couple of weeks to get used to the sound it makes as it swings & crosses the magnet & remind myself of what it is when I hear it.  It is quickly becoming like the sound of the sump pump, a sound of security.
We just need to beef up the weather stripping before the bugs get much worse, then we will be all set!  its so funny how the definition of happy changes with age :)

**being done w/both of my part time jobs-definately appreciated having them thru the rough winter but glad to have my evenings back at home

**getting to take the littles to the park on Wednesday! even tho we just got new sand, it was still nice to get to go.

**getting the camera back out! its like a long lost friend.

**the panel w/the doggie door installed, arrived on Wednesday.

**all kinds of flowers & buds around the yard.

Whata weekend!!

not quite ready for Monday but since I don't have a choice here we go!! :)

here are photos of Philip on Saturday. He is recovering @ warp speed! the only complaint he had yesterday morning was they were waking him every 1.5 hr for more meds & he wasn't in pain until they administered them. poor guy!

we spent the weekend busy busy busy... Saturday we did the Des Moines Farmer's Market, visited Philip in the hospital, got me these shoes, picked up an arbor for the wisteria vine, & finished cleaning the vinyl in the boat & it is now lake ready :) Sunday we spent outside!! Tim painted the end of the house where the chimney was removed, I worked on this gate for a new flower bed, painted a chair & picture frame, he mowed the Ayers Lot, we installed the arbor & we helped Gus thru a long seizure. He used to have seizures quite a bit, then we put him back on his boring treats & he quit. Well, he had one yesterday, the first in 5 yrs & it was long & horrible. but w/in an hr & half after, he was back to normal. We even attempted to take him on our normal walk but we got rained out.
So here's to a more laid back, relaxing sorta day :)

Silver lining kinda day!!

Real quick then we are headed out to enjoy the sunshine while we have it!!

  • got to the greenhouse yday to find out its really too early for peppers & tomatoes (our target purchases of course) so instead got some lettuce seeds & pretties for my hanging baskets by the front door
  • have a family of 2 out sick -that includes an itty bitty so it frees up my hands this morning & I am appreciating (rather than taking advantage) of the freedom & planting the pretties, maybe painting a frame, & maybe working on the bench planter that is trying to disintegrate :)
  • we are out of bread in the child care & have been all week-I haven't bought bread for the child care in over a month!- so pulling some frozen dough out to thaw & raise while we are outside.
  • Sun tea is rockin'-since I needed the boost again today after getting up 2x w/Gus in the night
  • The nursery is TRASHED so I will take some time tomorrow in the rain to re-organize it
  • I have crafty plans for tonight if the rains come early enough

ok.. out ... we... go!!!

Hello there Friday!

I thought U'd never come! :) the last Friday of Summer Vacation. Hmmmmm I am ready & I think they are too.

This weekend will be full of cleaning! The upstairs is definately become a dumping ground w/all the time we've spent outside lately & since Tim's working Saturday morning I will have plenty of quiet time to put a dent in it :) I promised myself I wouldn't get overwhelmed & would even go 15 minutes at a time if I had to. Then I start volunteering @ the animal shelter on Sunday. I hear rumors it took the last family of 4, 4 hours to do the dog room. I am thinking 2 hrs tops. And since we also want to do the last day of the fair & Bass Pro Shops on Sunday, I will be up early to do the dogs.
SCRAP PINK: I am hoping to get out & hang fliers Saturday too. I have 15 guests down for RSVPing, 5 on Saturday only, 5 for the whole weekend & the other 5 have not chosen days. This is from Facebook only. I am meeting w/the owner of the new day spa in town tonight to explain SP to her & see what she wants to donate. EXCITING!!
ACCOUNTABILITY: 80oz, 1 dairy, 6! f/v, played @ the park & walked to the garden then worked more on the rock garden, & Vites!! The water & dairy could have been a bit better but can't be perfect every day! ;)

APPRECIATE: I APPRECIATE the garden produce & Farmer's Market SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much right now!!! yuummmmy I APPRECIATE that we had all these rocks laying around to make our vision come to light. I APPRECIATE the coming quiet time tomorrow morning :)

Here are some shots I captured last night.
