bloglovin'

Don't forget, if you follow me via google reader that its closing down on Monday! If you are like me, once you get in a routine of doing something a certain way, you hate (HATE) to change & drag your feet until the last minute... I get it! normally that's how I am but, this time, I was on the ball & started reading other bloggers' reviews of other readers.  I settled on bloglovin' mostly b/c it sounded easy, works a lot like google reader & had a mobile app so I can still read blogs from my phone.

there is a little button over there on the right~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> that will let you follow me thru bloglovin' or prompt you to create an account if you don't have one.  Its simple & painless (after all, I did it) I promise. I would love to see that tiny number 5 grow to double digits by the first.  Guess I should come up with some more interesting topics to help attract & keep readers then huh? ;)

So tell me, what would you like me to write about?  What have I written about that you were interested in & maybe want more information on?

just my view on Friday evening after we got camp all set up.. simply because I hate to leave a post with out a photo anymore! :)

Have a great day!

bloglovin' vs google reader

Yesterday I mentioned bloglovin', more on that now.

I used to be a google reader girl-I loved being able to access all of my blogs in one screen, read what I want, & mark the ones that didn't pertain to me that day as read.  I also loved back when I had the 'next' button- I could click on one blog, it would take me to that blogger's page, I could read, comment & hit the 'next' button at the top of the page & it took me to the next newest entry in my reader list-FANTASTIC!! I could visit the actual blogs without a whole lot of jumping around on my part, the 'next' button did it all for me-THANK YOU! then I updated something & lost the option :(

Last month google reader announce it was going bye-bye so I was in a 2 day frenzy to find something to replace it before I lost everything.  Thanks to some on-the-ball bloggers I was able to read about a couple of options with all of THEIR options & pick one from a pretty informed bunch.  Enter Bloglovin'.  It has a 'NEXT' BUTTON!!! eeeeeeeeeeeeeee sooooooooo excited! AND there was an option to transfer all of my google reader-followed blogs to bloglovin' with one simple click of the mouse-exactly my kinda switch over!

So now I open bloglovin', sign in & click the top(newest) blog.  It opens in another window so I slide it into the same window I have open-the multi-tasker in me has to see everything I have happening at the same time ;) Then after I read it & comment, I click newer or older at the top & walla, it switches me to the next blog on my list with a new post! I also love that I can read in the order they are written in that it has an 'oldest' button & I can work from oldest to newest posts when I get really behind in reading!  (it really is the little things right now & I am loving that!)

OH & it has an android app! so of course I have it on my phone.  Now that I don't have facebook to check regularly, I can access my blogs when I have more than a couple of seconds of downtime. I do admit, I don't flip on & off of it as I did with Facebook so my internet usage as really gone down in the past 36+ hours :)

now I will close with a totally unrelated photo since I forgot to post one yesterday.  This is our indoor/outdoor cat on top of our garage keeping watch over the whole neighborhood.

how do you read blogs? If you are interested, you can click 'follow this blog w/bloglovin' to the right ~~~~~> over there & it will be added to your blog roll if you are registered, or it set up your own account if you are not.

bye-bye facebook

after some thought & much contemplating, I have decided to give up facebook.  At least for a while, but maybe forever.  When did we decide we needed to know every move or thought or gripe or praise someone else has? UGH! that's too overwhelming for me right now.  I don't even know how *I* feel about some things so why should I worry so much about every.one.else???

I deactivated it about 2PM yesterday afternoon & didn't reach for it once yesterday! I was honestly shocked b/c I in hindsight I now feel like I was always checking it.  Not so much reporting-I haven't felt I've had much to say lately but checking to see what everyone else is doing. WHY? I Have no idea! I have only reached for it 2x today.  The first was during my 'morning log on routine': check hotmail account, check yahoo email account, check facebook-oops nope! thankfully I didn't even get it typed in when I realized what I was about to do :), jump to #4 in the routine which is check bloglovin'! (my current way to read blogs & LOVIN' it! ;))  the second was later when I was waiting on breakfast to finish up to serve & I grabbed my phone to check it but TADA, I had uninstalled the app yesterday too so when I opened my phone to the home screen-there's a nice open empty space where facebook once was. I smiled & shut the phone back off &put it on the counter & went about busying my hands w/WORK.. dishes, laundry, diaper changing, something more productive than checking on my neighbor, friend, high school teacher or family! :)

in what I think was a knee-jerk reaction, Tim also deactivated his account but I think he misses his more than I miss mine as he's called to see if I am having withdrawal symptoms yet.   haha-nope, my mind actually feels freer, maybe a little less stressed already with out all of those thoughts & feelings & reactions floating around in there.  Maybe I was letting the negative nellies get to me more than I thought I was.

So, if I am missing anything important on facebook, please don't hesistate to shoot me a text or email to keep me in the loop.  :)  Just no drama please.  IN the mean time, I think I have found a renewed excitement for blogging.. wondering already if facebook was taking away the drive to blog.  Maybe it was making me feel like I had already said everything I needed to, or it was making me feel like I didn't have anything worthwhile to say.  Either way, I have a list of posts to get to work on! (not all scrap related  :))

What or who have you given up, walked away from or said good-bye to lately? Inquiring minds want to know!
