4 on Friday the 4th

1. The local dime store has their fabric on sale tomorrow .. 60% off! I am going to buy my kitchen curtain fabrics. I have no idea of a pattern, or the amount of fabric to get but I am just going to wing it & make do :) I can do that, right?!
ok, so I would love something like this, only less colorful.

and will probably end up w/something like this in different colors/patterns, wish me luck.
ALL HELP & SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!! :)

2. That leads to the repair of my sewing machine cord that was partially chewed through by Sammy in the early days. Which we really can't complain about b/c he's only chewed up 3 important things, all being cords, & not getting entirely through any of them.

3. With a messed up week I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thankful its Friday!!  Monday the kids went all day even tho we started to get our blizzard, Tuesday & Wednesday they were out, yesterday they had a 2 hour delay & today back to normal. This is all fine & good but the littles are ALLLLL messed up not knowing who will be here on what days. TOday was icky grouchy crazy day & they sucked me in no matter what I did & how hard I tried to fight it! BLECK. early lunch, early nap *silence*

4. Scrapping!! I am so excited to be having company tomorrow morning to scrap! Scrapping is a therapy to me & I am happy to share it w/others that may also benefit from it. As well as get their child's books caught up :)

What are your weekend plans? anything exciting?

Wow....November....

Already???/ Really??? sheesh! where has Twenty-Ten gone?

I am feeling the need to make a list (big surprise I am sure ;)) of my accomplishments for the year:
  • I started running
  • I completed 2 races, a fun run & have a 3rd race on the calendar for this Sunday
  • I lost 15# (then gained 3 back)
  • I inspired a neighbor & another friend to try the c25k program
  • I got back into reading
  • I participated in 2 girls nights outs
  • I quit coffee in the spring, then started again when the weather cooled
  • I put up alot of fruits & veggies from the garden & farmer's market for winter
  • I have continued to get more positive outlook on everything, being more & more of a duck 'letting it all roll off my back' -even being dubbed (& accepting it) 'Miss Silverlining' :)
  • I successfully decorated (& Un-decorated in a timely manner) for each holiday
  • I organized & held weekly field trips for the local childcare providers this summer-we hope to expand it w/the Clarke county mom's group in Twenty-Eleven
  • I bought myfirst stainless water bottle-a Sigg- & proceeded to beat the tar out of it LOL
  • I found & stuck w/a chiro that listens, as well as believes the same things I do
  • I learned to sew, can & make freezer jams
  • I used facebook for constructive communication rather than whining, complaining & rumor spreading
  • I organized & pulled off 2 successful crops
  • I am still addicted to list making ;)
  • I am boycotting alot of store bought items, mixes, canned goods, high fructose corn syrup, soy, & toxic people/relationships
ok.. done ;)  What does your list for twenty-ten look like?

Good Morning!!

Well, it is now anyway. I started the day roughly @4AM hitting snooze on my alarm clock.  UGH that is tooo early for me when I get up 2x in the night w/Gus... but its the new Me w/this new family.  So I might as well quit resisting & just accept it. might even have to start going to bed before 10PM. that will be new!!!  so I finally gave in & got up @4:30 so I should just change the alarm to that time for tomorrow. I woke w/a headache to start w/. NOT cool on a Monday! :(  but I had breakfast w/some ibuprofen & am feeling MUCH better!!

I took Sewing 101 yesterday @ Prairieland Herbs (PLH) w/Abby Glann & Sarah Reid.  they are absolutely adorable & incredibly REAL!  I have been having mixed feelings about getting out of my little box of safety, meeting people & exploring new interests makes me nervous!  but I did it & I will continue to!! :) I just can't emphasize how real they are!! We made aprons! weeeeeee I am in love w/aprons.. cobbler aprons that were my great great aunt's, my great gma's, I bought a tie apron @ the fm a couple of yrs ago (or was that just last summer?) & now ones I can make!! wow!!!  how fun! here we are in all of our newly sewing apron glory :)
btw, they were cut from SHEETS! yay! So now I am ready to start tearing things apart & making them into other things :)  loook out!!! nothing is safe ;)  already on my to do list for winter are: curtains for almost every room in the house, dressing up the boring shower curtain upstairs, pillow case dress for myself,  making one or more of my favorite shirts that no longer fits-fit again, a new dust ruffle for our bed, & numerous things for the childcare!! :) they were talking about a skirt making class when we left so SIGN ME UP!! :)

Tell me, what does it take to get you out of your safety box? for me it was learning to be more self reliant, freezer jam class & sewing 101 so far!

A List

From a busy weekend.
  • our new fridge is way cool(hahaha get it ...) my only complaint is that it does not say "made in the USA" *sigh* someday maybe he'll get it
  • I have found myself decorating the top of the fridge this round. never ever before have I done this! I have a neato black Longaberger bowl I got for Christmas & a plant from my scraproom up there along w/our cereal in storers & our box of warrenty/manual/etc.
  • I finally got my sewing machine from my great gma's house. OYE I knew the working machine didn't 'belong' in teh cabinet but never did I comprehend that there was STILL a machine in the cabinet! so I brought home a working machine, a cabinet (that's 2x the size I remembered) w/old singer inside, & chair that 'belongs' w/it all. they don't match but ok whatever :)
  • Since the cabinet is so much bigger than I rememered, I worked for 3 hours LAST NIGHT making room for it in my scrap room. I am almost 1/3 of the way there. :)
  • in the mean time, I should be reading the manual & getting acquainted but I am not, I am still trying to finish New Moon. I am much more disciplined w/it than I was w/Twilight!
  • Is it rude to say you went 'junking' @ someone's house? LOL I picked thru my mom's 'donate' pile & scavenged a coffee table (I remember her stripping & redoing when we were kids) for the child care kids to play on/with (that may someday -if I get brave enough -turn into a padded bench for them!), 2 door mirrors w/water damaged backings, 6 chairs that are now finding their way to donate from here as they are too wide for my cc table(which means I need to either get serious about building 2 benches for the table or recovering the existing chairs we have there), a welcome home sign I plan to paint over for St. Patt'ys day & 2 sets of sheers for a white 'rag' wreath(I might have mentioned these last 2 on Friday as I nabbed them on Thursday). I think that's it.
  • I now have a bin in my room of 'to do' items-things I have run across & kept just for a project. now to get a move on, on those projects!
  • Hope to get my room orgnized so I can work on those projects!!

making 2010 a DO it year!!!!!!!!!!
